Elmcrest Park is a 4.5 hectare park located in Etobicoke. The park consists of a paved biking trail that is frequently used, and is a go-to spot for local dog walkers. There is a small playground at the park close to Old Burnhamthorpe Rd that is frequented by neighbourhood children.
The park is close to residential housing, local schools, and is directly across from one of Toronto’s busiest parks – Centennial Park. The creek system of Elmcrest Park is directly downstream from Centennial Park. The creek running through Centennial Park is currently being restored so that the water can flow through more naturally (ex. removing the cement that channelized the creek) and to remove the invasive plants that dominated the creek beds. By volunteering as a Toronto Nature Steward in Elmcrest Park, you too will be contributing to the restoration of this creek system.
This year we will be focusing on removing invasive plants including Garlic Mustard, Dog-Strangling Vine, Burdock, Buckthorn, Non-Native Honeysuckles, and Winged Burning Bush throughout the park.
