Stewards cutting down Japanese knotweed at Middle Mills, 2021

Serena Gundy Park

Nearest Address: TBA
Meets: Monday 2:00-4:00 PM
Transit: TBA

This site has been stewarded since 2024 with one section cleared of Buckthorn since 2023. The City of Toronto recently approved a site extension to include this additional section in cooperation with Don’t Mess With the Don’s “Project Buckthorn”. Project Buckthorn will continue to run cooperatively with this TNS site to remove Buckthorn. The site can be accessed via public transit (Eglinton and Leslie Street), although there is a 15 minute walk from the intersection down to the Park to Parking Lot #3. There is ample parking for those with cars or bicycles.

The site sits in one of the City’s largest contiguous parks which joins Edwards Gardens to Wilket Creek to Sunnybrook to E.T. Seton and beyond. Despite the park’s popularity, one feels completely removed from the city with its beautiful tree canopy and flowing streams! Stewarding here always feels like a mini forest holiday. Spring ephemerals and many native plants and trees attract a lot of wildlife. Come join us for Project Buckthorn to get your hands dirty, as of Monday april 28th at 4:30 or for general Stewarding, starting June 5th at 2pm. We focus on removing invasive plants to allow native species to flourish and will be planting natives to make Serena Gundy Park even more welcoming for local wildlife and visitors. Come join us by registering below.
